Innoshima

It's more or less common knowledge that Japan's population is both shrinking and aging rapidly. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the more rural corners of the country, where every bus stop has an obasan with a parasol and the streets are filled equally with cars and old men on bicycles with cowboy hats.
These are a few quick color renderings of characters I saw my last time on the little island of Innoshima in Hiroshima prefecture. Pencil sketches are from back in 2017.
